ABOUT BLIND SUMMIT THEATRE
Blind Summit was founded in the UK in 1997 by Mark Down and Nick Barnes with the aim of reinventing puppetry for modern adult audiences. Blind Summit draws on the traditional Japanese form of Bunraku puppetry in which 3 puppeteers combine to operate one beautifully crafted puppet. They believe puppets speak straight to the soul. It’s work can be seen in Theatre, Opera and Dance throughout the world. It is currently touring it’s award winning show about a puppet prophet The Table around the world and preparing the puppetry for the upcoming production of Anthony Minghella’s Madama Butterfly at the Perth International Festival in 2015. Other productions of Blind Summit’s puppetry include Low Life (2005-9), Le Rossignol (Bregenz Festspeilhaus, 2014), The Magic Flute (Bregenz Festspielhaus 2013/14), Olympic Opening Ceremony Puppetry (Danny Boyle, 2012), The Master & Margarita (Complicite 2012-13), Kommilitonen! (RAM & Julliard 2011), Faeries (ROH2 2009/10), A Dog’s Heart (Complicite, DNO, ENO 2010-14), Shun-kin (Complicite 2009-2013).
