Brian Downen

Tenor Brian Downen’s 2010-11 season included appearances as Milfort in Rossini’s The Marriage Contract with Opera Omaha and several solo engagements, including Carmina Burana with the York Symphony Orchestra. In the previous year, he appeared as Almaviva in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia with Pensacola Opera, Teatr Wielki Poznan in Poland, and Winter Opera Saint Louis.  He also sang a return engagement at the Caramoor Festival as The Fisherman in Rossini’s Guillaume Tell. Mr. Downen sang the role of Publio in Gotham Chamber Opera’s debut production of Mozart’s Il sogno di Scipione in 2001. He is a graduate of Yale University and a William Matheus Sullivan Foundation Award winner.
